Rest at last..

Posted by Lokman

..no, its not my time to take my leave yet ( that'll be AFTER i'm done with the October issue in September...but thats another story..).

I've finally paid myself a looong weekend for me to enjoy. Gaining off days on Friday (today) and Monday to finally take that breath of fresh air to recover. Funny to think that i've always thought that i was the deligent one, always finishing my work, settling all pertaining stuff before a holiday. This time, i totally let it go. Hell I don't even want to think about it. I deserve this rest. Hah..

Well, total rest almost. I've got this stint to do a short coporate video for Broquet due tomorrow. Hell, I'll go all the way for this one cos, beleive me, an additional 800-900 bucks for my holiday trip is worth it.

Seven Sword Press Conference

Charlie Young, Tsui Hark & Donnie Yen

On the 24th of July, upon the Conrad, 7 Heros who carried the 7 heavenly swords came upon our shores...Well not exactly 7 but 3. No, 2 infact, plus the legendary dictator who showed thier path to destiny..

Ok, my story telling isn't working out...
As some of you have known that i'm a team member of MovieXclusive, relatively, we are assigned tasks may it be movie review or design or somewhat. Yesterday, i had the privelage to team up with my fellow Xclusivers to cover the press conference of The Seven Sword. My task? As the photographer. Might as well, cos i'm no pro in chinese.

Gracing the event, Charlie Young, Tsui Hark and Donnie Yen. Mesmerising in thier own way, the conference went pretty well, them being a rather friendly bunch in comparison with other celebrities that i've encountered.

A sneak peek of CARMA - August

Posted by Lokman

For those who reads my magazine, here's a sneak peek of the August issue. Get your copy at the nearest magazine rack of your favourite bookstore or mama stall...

...oh and you might probably only manage to see this on the 1st week of August.

To all subscribers or fan of this mag, on behalf of the team, we apologies. Sorry hor~

And so the marathon ends..

WHAT A WEEK!

This month has been a terrible work span ever. Not only did i have to endure yet another 36 hr creative marathon, but our backslot of late night working hours started way back 3 weeks ago! The usual case was only to withstand a week's worth! Ads has been increased this month ( which is a good thing) and i had to help out my CD on his task. Also not to mention the golf tornament event report that was on going most definately didn't help.

With the amount of work we're dumped upon, i demand a raise. Alas, this is not to point out now cos i'm still under probation. A 6 month probation. ( Who ever heard of a 6 month probation anyway..3 yes, but 6?..) Right now i'm on month 4 soon. sigh..

Anyway, its over now....almost. I've still got some loose ends to tie up on Monday. The colour proofs for CARMA might be in on Tuesday and Wednesday, so probably i'll take my off on Friday.

I know you've heard me whine about me wanting a rest and so i've decided that after the September issue closes, or when my part responsibile part of the magazine is done, i'm taking a 2 week leave to somewhere. Haven't decided on my destination yet, but somewhere far. Oh and somewhere that i have to take a plane. HAH.

...where time drags on...

Posted by Lokman

I know i haven't been updating much nowadays. I do have lots to say, but the time just doesn't allow such pleasure(..or is it my laziness..hmm..).

Magazine week has just started, and i'm just stuck at doing mountians of ADs. I haven't even started on my editorials. Total panic mode right now, but i'm playing it cool. So what if the magazine is delayed in distribution? So what?..

AAARRGHHHH...~~~

Rating: Freakin' A

I had the pleasure of previewing this awesome movie and let me tell you. Far more interesting then any other flim Hollywood has churned up in years and it wouldn't be slapped with an R21 rating here for nothing. Nudity and MEGA violence asured.

I like.

Look out for my review at MovieXclusive in a couple of days.

Press Conference with Neil Gaiman

Press Conference with Neil Gaiman Posted by Picasa

Down to earth, humourous and somewhat dark. Maybe its because of his shades and leather jacket. Kinda makes you wonder what goes in his mind knowing him be the author of the bestselling comic, "The Sandman", with morbid and disturbing stories intertwining humour and a generous handfull of plots, it isn't a wonder comic lovers abound are amazed of his works.

I had the pleasure meeting up with him up close on his promotional tour to Singapore and attending his press conference at the British Council. All as well, newbie fanboy alike, i was at awe of his presence and couldn't resist an autograph. My downfall was that my very 1st book of "The Sandman" was in the hands of others and i had to resort to the cover of the press kit that had his mugshot on it. Well, better than nothing...

Dreamcars Asia Motorshow 05 Posted by Picasa

And so it ends the last day of the Motorshow. Unknown to some, i have been working to promote the magazine at the motorshow for the past 2 days. It was an eye opener seeing myself work as a promoter, sharpening my public relations which i totally suck at. I'm not really a people person at all. I did however manage to get 1 subscriber, which was quite a big deal for me. Hey, give me some credit here alright? I'm working my way up to be a renaissance man. Currently I'm a designer, engineer, writer and photographer. Next up, Director. Lets just keep it between ourselves shall we. I've always wanted to go into filming but other sources do make up to the complictions which unables me to do so. Sigh..

---------------------------------------------------------

Will be attending Neil Gaiman Press conference at the British Council tomo bright and early morning at 10. Currently a newbie of his works, i've recently bought myself an introduction of his much acclaimed "The Sandman" series and what can i say about it?

Superb.

The 1st book has already hooked me and i'm going to get the sequels pretty soon (...as soon as i get paid..damn late company salary...grrr...).

Initial D Gala Premiere Red Carpet event

The Stage platform infront of Shaw House Posted by Hello

Imagine to my surprise, a maddening crowd of fans were already encircling the red carpet walkway outside Shaw House, eagerly waiting to greet the cast of Initial D. Even the walkway across the road at Wheelock Place was soon jammed up. Rain drops threatened to dampen the crowd but that wasn’t going to affect the reason why they came down in the first place. A red carpet, twice as long as Hustle last year, and to top it off a grandeur location facing the junction of Paterson and Orchard Rd, seemed like a perfect place to show all of its glory. Fans of all ages clung tightly to the metal railing that separates them from the idols, waving their fan-made signage. Screams was abound and echoes of Edison’s and Jay’s names were chanted everywhere, it’s almost like a cult. With a gala event of this scale, how fun can it be if not for the goodie bags handed out to the lucky few? Oh yeah, besides the stars that is.

Grace and Shan Wee Posted by Hello

It was only 730pm onwards did the local celebrities came strolling down the red carpet. First up the DJs from Perfect 10 98.7FM consisting of Grace, Justin and surprise-surprise – Bachelor, Shan Wee, from Eye for a Guy 2.

933 DJs Posted by Hello

Next up were the ever funny DJs from YES 93.3FM

Oddly enough, no other local celebrities were in sight for the red carpet but on the bright side, it was time for the stars of the show to walk into the limelight. With no gradual surprise element, the stars one by one, were driven up and walked down the glitter of camera flashes and screaming fans.

Edison Chen Posted by Hello

Edison Chen was the first to arrive and boy did the crowd heightened. Night became day as spotlight shone on him on his arrival. On contrary to what the media says of him being a snub, he was the most generous with his fans tonight, stopping along the way, shaking hands and signing autographs whenever possible.

Kenny Bee Posted by Hello

Up next, Kenny Bee and his lovely accompany. At an age of 53, he still has that youthful glow that radiant around him.

Shaun Yue Posted by Hello

Branded as the next Nicholas Tse, Shawn Yue quickly stepped up to stage next, causing a wave of screams again upon his gaze.

Anthony Wong Posted by Hello

Just like a scene from Batman, the legendary Anthony Wong, spotted with retro get-up, complete with dark glasses (was the spotlight that bright?) coolly walked down the carpet. One could have imagined the entire scene in slo-mo.

Jay Chou Posted by Hello

At last the moment where all were waiting for. A surge of hysteria rippled through the crowd as Jay Chou stepped out of his car. It was a sight to behold. Fan-billboards were raised, camera’s clicked away, strobes of flash was shot from every corner and screams of true followers bellowed into the air. It isn’t a wonder really why people are crazy for him. It could it be his quiet and laid back mellowness that transcends through as a down-to-earth personality or his music which no one understands but loved by everyone (including me). Whatever the case maybe, seeing him acknowledging his fans along the way and stopping by for a quick interview for the media, his fan base would probably grow even more after this.
