Definately NOT a crasher.

With compliments from our head of movieXclusive for doing a good job for The Maid review and article write-up, a pair of complimentary tickets were awarded to us. Amidst my bz schedule of my magazine ( which will be freaking late next month..sigh..) i took off during my lunch time yesterday to meet-up with Richard for the movie.

What a hilarious flick. A must watch. Sad to say, towards the end it did kinda spirl down abit with its lovey dovey wrap-up, but as a whole, thumbs up!

Anyway, after the movie, we headed down to Queensway Shopping center to collect the polo. Lo and behold, the end result was pretty not met up with expectation. There were some shoddy stitchings and questionable positioning of logo in frame with the polo. Furthurmore, a portion of the logo that we clearly imformed not to put, was seen stitched. We were shocked to see it there. We requested them to remove the slogan of the entire lot and it be collected by next week. With that, as we left the shop, i can clearly see his dissapointed look on his face. Little did richard know that, he actually called me up to say that it was not a good idea to remove the stitches as it was too small and it'll just create an unsightly hole. He even requested if i could close one eye and buy the lot at a lower price.

"Hey, i'm not going to accept shoddy work here. Its not about the price but of workmanship brudder.."

I told told him instead to redo the whole lot:
1) Remove the slogan.
2) Shift the logo an inch down.
3) Not to do a rush job.

Lets see the result next week yah?

A new chapter in life

Its rarely you see me with a different phone everytime. It was only recently that i was forced to because the T610 i was holding on to, was begining to wear out. Software was slow. The novelty camera which was so cool back then is now pathetic.
Then the challenging part came. i have only 100 bucks to spend (see savings for Australia trip). And so after much thought, i've settled with this beauty. Has the basic fuctions, 1.3 Mp camera. storage for MP3s and other usual stuff. Pretty slim for a clamshell phone (with the exception of a Motorola V3 that is). Overall, i think i like it.

Woohoo~

National Day at Tampines

Posted by Lokman

OK i know i'm abit late, but its better then nothing.

Eventually on the late afternoon of 9th August, i was intending to hang low and laze around infront of the telly, watching the parade 'live' when i remembered that Shaiful was doing some community participation at the National Day celebration @ the heartlands. I thought, what the hell, msged/called shaiful up and asked of the situation. It was all a go, so i changed into my red T ( incidentally, my very 1st red top i ever worn in my life. Surprisingly, i look good in red. Oh shut up..) and off i went to the open fields of Tampines near the Interchange. By the time i arrived, a huge crowd was making thier way and an even more bigger crowd was already there.

The usual dance and song performance abound. Everyone being hyped up and excited was indeed infectious and this went on all through the night.

Oh and how can we not mention the fireworks. Not as big as the ones at the Padang, but good enough to wow us off our feet.

Till next year, Happy..erm..Belated Birthday Singapore!

PS: Photos by Shaiful/MassB. Thanks for sharing dude!

Totally full

Ok, its been quite a while since i updated this blog of mine. Alot has been happening the past few days and i just didn't have time to jot them down. So now its time to rewind and let me give u a roll down on the happenings.

Saturday, 11AM: Queensway Shopping Center

Richard and i headed down to Queenways Shopping Center to check out the bargain custom made embrodiery polo for MovieXclusive. Recently we've checked high and low, seeking prices ranging from $23 to $28 but eventually managed to settle for something unique and cheap. Incidentally, this was also the place where richard did his own tshirt where they actually made a major mistake on the printing. Am i asking for trouble or what? Anyway, out of good will, i've decided to go ahead with them and hope for the best.

Kinda made a mock-up of the polo-T above. Its almost like an Adidas (stated by Linus), with it's white (or black) stripe on the shoulder and sides. Also, theres no buttons infront! Looks cool though..but i wouldn't know how well it looks like when worn. Double good luck to me man!

2PM: The Art House

It was quite a coencidence that i was talking to richard on friday and while talking about the plans going to queensway for check out the polo-t, i found out that he was actually catching a show called Zombie Dogs. I've read about this flick ages ago and now i've finally gotten a chance to see what the hoohaa was all about.

Ok, get this. Its about a movie about a grubby film maker who wants to make a snuff film. A totally weird movie if u ask me. It had balls and intention cos i knew where he was going with it but he was so caught-up with his visual and intertwining messages with overlapping subplots , that it endded up looking like a mess. A Complete WTF. Sad. When will i ever see a truely well singapore made film. Sigh...

Anyway, we ended our trippy visuals by 4 and headed out to Orchard to hang till it was time for us to meet the rest of the cast of movie kakis (yes another one..) to watch Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

6PM: Plaza Singapura

I had a total blast watchig this madcap movie. I have to admit, it is rather a weird (another one??) movie. But it has all the elements of fun and visuals of a kid. Kudos agian to Tim Burton. Personally, i'll give it a 3.5/5 for the fun.

930PM: Pizza Hut : Plaza Singapura

Heads up folks! Pizza Hut at Plaza Sg is now officially my favourite outlet. Especially if u come on late night on a weekend. Why? I'll tell you.

First off, after our orders, we waited patiently for our food, thinking it might come late because of the crowd. Our soups came and drinks came. Some starters arrived and we began digging in. That where we realised a plate of garlic bread sitting there quietly. Questions were asked around of whom it belonged to, but non owned up. Fortunately, our receipt came early as well and we checked. Nope. No garlic bread. Being the devils we were, we kept mum and happily ate it. Then a basket of Calimari came. Didn't we just finished a basket already? We noded an approval and digged in. Our pizza (1 of 2) came, awaiting for the 2nd to come. To our surpirse, yet agian, upon finishing ur 1st pan, a 3rd came! Ok, we had to come to a stop of this, fearing it might belong to someone else. I mean a small basket of side orders isn't a big deal but a whole pizza? Thats nuts! We told the mistake and away it went. Minutes later, a waitress came to sorted out the mix-up. Apparently, we didn't realise that we were digging in a wrongly served pizza which was smaller in size (we were hungry..we didn't notice..can't blame us..) . We gave a "blur-blur" look at each other and apologied about the mistake. What a surprise indeed when she said she didn't mind and gave us the pizza we ordered originally! Thats a free medium pan mind you. That night, i was so full, i could skip lunch the next day.

Burp~

Ma'am...i see MORE dead people...

What a way to open the movie in Singapore. Right on the eve of The Hungry Ghost Festival. And thats not all. Guess where they held the press conference? Where else but Seng Ong Temple at Paya Lebar. With all the settings of an authentic chinese opera, the marketing of The Maid is admittedly an impressive presentation. Starting off with a visit from the "bride", slowly creeping up behind us. Even though it was broad daylight, the setting and haunting music playing in the background did manage to tightened my nerves. I was half expecting the "bride" to open her mysterious red veil and scare the pants of me while i was photographing her.

Anyway, more of the press conference soon at MovieXclusive by Monday or so by my partner in crime, Richard. Oh and my review too...

So near yet so far

Step right outside my home and this view is the 1st to strike your senses.

Red. Round. Hairy. Juicy. RAMBUTANS.

Unfortunately its planted in the perimeters of the generator area.

Damn fence...

Ma'am..i see dead people..

ooOoooo...scary~

The Maid, directed by our own true-blue Singaporean Kelvin Tong, tells of a story about a maid and her horifying journey through the 7th month.

You might have guess, since i'm part of the MovieXclusive team, i was tasked to review this local production. You absolutely right! And thats not all! Stay tuned, for me and my partner in crime, will bring you our coverage of the press conference of this movie to be held soon. REAL soon.

Now, as Stefan would say, theres a difference between a Reviewer and a Critic.

Reviewer: Read it at MovieXclusive.com soon. Dunno when, but will come surely.

Critic: Expected more. Had great potential but missing some elements. Plot holes galore.

The end of my rest....

Looky... Food...drool~

Well the end is near, my precious resting period has finally net its end.
Tomorrow is the time for me to face the dreaded office and start working.
I had a pretty much pack weekend and i must say, it went well.

[SATURDAY]

Looking at Saturday, i've manage to conclude the video presentation for Broquet, just in time later that evening to meet up with Speng and Tiong. The rest of the guys couldn't join us for whatever reason they had and i wasn't really surprised. They were hopeless for spontaniousity. Anyway, we had dinner at Eddie's place ( Pardon my absent mindedness, i seem to have forgotten the name of the place.). Pretty much a couple's place. Good atmosphere. Good food. Although a little steep in price. Service was excellent ( maybe it was because of the lack of customers..bleh..). The night was still young and so our journey ended us all the way to The Esplanade.

Thats where i discovered, Makansutra Gluttons Bay. Noted to be singapore's best street food under the moonlight by the bay, we stoppped by for supper, after viewing a band performance at the outdoor theater. For those who don't know of the place, its right next to DXO where they open from 6pm to 3am, perfect for after clubbing activity. Oh btw, even when you dine, you'll still be able to hear the hard thumping music that seem to seep through the air vent nearby. Pretty cool bonus actually.

[SUNDAY]

Woke up just in time to meet up with my MovieXclusive team mates for our monthy (we try to) meeting and upcoming events/happenings. Can't say much here but all i can say is that its going to make us step 1 level higher. So watch out for us as we grow even furthuer to bring you more of the movie world to Singapore.

[MONDAY]

Laze-around-day. Nothing much happening. Pondering on how miserable i'll be when i go back to work tomo. Bleah~
